We’re Rose Pedal McIntyre and Karic Jack McIntyre, twins born in Lexington, Kentucky. Rose arrived first, but the dream that became The Petal Pals began with Karic’s love of flowers.
At 18, we chose to build something together around that love: a practical project we could take part in ourselves and invite other young people to help bring to life.
Our idea came down to a simple question: could flowers that had already helped celebrate one occasion become a thoughtful gift for someone else?
Starting with what we can do
We imagined small bouquets, each a little different, with handwritten notes for older adults in our community. There would be work to do: finding donors, learning to care for stems, arranging flowers, and coordinating deliveries. Those were things we could learn together, with help from people who understood flowers and the communities we hoped to serve.
Listening comes first
We want to learn from florists, senior community staff, volunteers, and the people receiving our flowers. A thoughtful gift begins with understanding what someone would welcome.
Our hope is that each delivery makes room for a conversation, a shared memory, or simply a brighter afternoon. We also hope other young people discover what they can contribute through their interests, creativity, and willingness to show up.
The Petal Pals began with a brother’s dream and became a shared commitment between twins. Now, we’re inviting our community to help it bloom.
